To Cora and 3 Peaks with Love

For myself, Charles and the entire coaching staff of STCF, we stress that we want the hour we have with our members (family) to be one of the best hours of their day. Come, hang out, laugh and get a good workout in. We look to not only make people fitter, but more so to make people happy. To have a place where they can feel free to be themselves, sans judgement. But on Tuesday, I had to take the atmosphere and change it for the day. It was going to be exceptionally hard, it was something I not only wanted to do, I had to. When we saw the post about a young girl named Cora from 3 Peaks CrossFit who lost her battle with mental illness last month, we knew we had to address the issue with our members and also to honor her by doing the tribute workout that was written for her. As a staff, we are fully versed and supportive of the mental health community. We strive to let people know that no matter what, we can offer an ear to listen, a hand to hold or the ability to find help for any issue …

24 Heroes in 24 Hours – Mission Accomplished!

When we decided that we wanted to put on a charity event, we never could have thought that it would turn out as incredible as this weekend was. Taking on a 24-hour event was a drastic move as our first event, but go big or go home right? We were nervous to say the least 2 weeks prior to the event, as ticket sales (donations) were much lower than anticipated. As of November 1st, we had only presold 16 tickets. We started to knock on every Crossfitters door we knew (or perhaps we just texted everyone we knew) and the community did not disappoint. By the day of the event, we were at over 100 tickets sold. We also had multiple walk-ins and people adding on WODS after participating in one. The local news station WNEP and friend of our gym Ryan Leckey was able to bring so much attention to this great cause that we had community members stopping by to purchase raffle tickets, make donations and watch the athletes workout. One hero workout began every hour, on the hour from 3 pm Saturday to 3 pm Sunday. Meal Prep Grind provided us amazing food from start to finish …
